Vernashen (Armenian: Վերնաշեն); formerly known as Bashkend, is a village in the Vayots Dzor Province of Armenia. The 13th-century fortress of Proshaberd (also known as Boloraberd) and the Spitakavor Monastery of 1321 are located near Vernashen.
