Mr. Sampat is a 1952 Indian Hindi-language satirical film directed by S. S. Vasan and produced by Gemini Studios. It is based on R. K. Narayan's 1949 novel Mr. Sampath – The Printer of Malgudi, and stars Motilal, Padmini and Kanhaiyalal.[1][2]

- Motilal as Sampat[1]
- Padmini as Malini [1]
- Kanhaiyalal as Seth Makhanlal Gheewala[1]
- Agha as the restaurant proprietor[1]
- Swaraj as the director of Kala Mandir Company[1]
Reception
Although Motilal received rave reviews for his performance, Mr. Sampat was a commercial failure.[1] It was later featured in journalist Avijit Ghosh's book 40 Retakes: Bollywood Classics You May Have Missed.[3] Writing for Upperstall.com, Karan Bali stated that Mr. Sampat was "perhaps [Vasan's] best Hindi film", despite being significantly different from the source novel.[4]
